Product Aftercare guide
General
Clean the washing machine monthly by doing a 95° empty wash without detergent. This cleans the machine and helps prevent white clothes from becoming grey over time. Do not use fabric softener, as it clogs the pores of our functional materials. Generally, try to use a laundry mesh bag.
Taking care of your favourite INA KESS pieces
- We recommend using a laundry detergent for sensitive clothing (wool/silk, etc.) and for whites to use a laundry detergent for white or pale clothes - it does make a difference! - and to wash your INA KESS clothes the following way:
- Wash inside out, ideally in a mesh laundry bag
- Non-Knitwear: Wash at 30°C
- Knitwear: Handwash or wash at 20°C gentle cycle
- Wash at low spin speed (400 RPM cycles – the cycles must be low)
- Never use fabric softener (this would clog the little spaces in the functional fabrics – the fabrics are breathable and have an invisible mesh-structure with tiny spaces for the air to move)
- Do not tumble dry
- Remove shoulder pads and belts before washing
- Do not over- or under-fill the washing machine, as the pieces need space to 'swim' during the cleaning :)
- Only combine similar colours in the same wash, and white only with other white clothes
- Be very careful not to wash INA KESS clothes with other clothes that have open zippers (scratches the material), leather patches (can cause snagging on other clothes), or denim (can lose colour and be harsh on other materials)
- Remove the styles immediately from the machine after washing
White Styles
Washing tips and tricks to ensure your whites stay white:
- Only wash with other white items
- Make sure the washing machine is clean before putting in white styles
- Add a small amount of baking soda to every white wash from the beginning. Baking soda is known for its ability to whiten, freshen and keep styles soft
- Pre-treat dirty collars and cuffs with a gall soap overnight before washing. Gall soap is known for its qualities to remove dirt and stains
- Never wash above 30°C and unless very dirty, put on a short wash programme
- From time to time wash your white blouses with gall soap acting as detergent
- If the material should turn a touch grey, please soak in gall soap overnight and subsequently wash the particular item with a more powerful detergent; but still not above 30°C. This should not happen if you follow the tips above from the beginning
